I have previously posted about Joe Forkan’s work here… and the more and more I see of his work the more I fall completely in love with it.
These utterly gorgeous works are from a residency he did at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Co. Mayo – Ireland back in 2012.
Joe’s “blurb” about the residency on his blog says;
“I spent a month in Ireland this summer, returning to The Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, County Mayo for a month of painting. The first trip was amazing, but it was great heading to Ireland this time with a better sense of what was waiting for me there, in terms of possibilities for painting, and a sense I wanted to accomplish. I still worked fairly small on many of these, but plan to use these to develop some larger work as well.”
Having myself grown up around the Co. Down coast of Northern Ireland, and later moving to Co. Donegal the North-West tip of Ireland I can unequivocally state that Joe’s ability to tap-in to the light-play and drama of the landscapes and changing weather is exquisitely masterful.
