From time to time – I like to buy job lot boxes of bits’n'bobs… Well known auction sites, jumble sales, car boots… all are rather good at delivering the goods if you’re willing to take a gamble on what you get!
The best thing is that they’re always full of an eclectic mix of broken strands of beads, costume jewellery and odd bits of fabric… *perfect* for taking apart and re-crafting into something new!
Here is the most recent box of nonsense, odds’n'sods, knick-knacks and general ephemera I bought…
As you can see…plenty for Magpies like myself to deconstruct and create something different!
I think these red glass & magnetic beads are awesome!
This haul brought in a lot of glass imitation pearls, which I’m delighted about!
All sorts of bizarre-ness…
I was lucky enough to get some vintage cotton spools and other old and lovely haberdashery in this treasure box.
These vintage buttons are just gorgeous…I’m saving them for a small installation, I think. I get waves of inspiration when picking through my treasure hauls…I suppose it’s the found-object aspect that appeals to me. Couple that with a Magpie-esque approach to design and craft, and you’ll be on cloud nine when receiving one of these Treasure Boxes!
And last but not least – I was brought THIS fabulous little chappy…
*hyperventilate*! Isn’t he amazing? He’s been on holiday a few times with us – he makes a perfect holiday coin purse!
